About Me

I'm a big fan of Minecraft and the modding community. I really enjoy testing out new mods and seeing the huge creativity and skills of all these modmakers. To make it easy for other people to see the mods I decided to start a Youtube channel dedicated to showcasing these mods:

I made some more tweaks and finally arrived at this one:

Is the new one too much, too detailed? I don't know, tell me what you think.

Partnership rejected

Youtube partnership was rejected, but I don't know why, because producers like ipodmail and yogscast are accepted, the Youtube email was also quite unclear. I guess it's good for you viewers because it means no ads :)
I still like making videos and will continue, though I'm less motivated and may not post videos as frequently as before.

Dear MCmodShowcase,
Thank you for your interest in the YouTube Partner Program.

Applications are reviewed for a variety of criteria, including but not limited to the size of your audience, country of residence, quality of content, and compliance with our YouTube Community Guidelines and Terms of Use. At this time, we are unable to accept your application because your channel does not contain sufficient original content. You may find the the following resources helpful in making your channel eligible for the YouTube Partner Program:

Donations

Dear viewers, YouTube doesn't want to make me a partner for some unclear reason. I still really like testing out and showcasing mods, but it does cost quite some time to produce these videos. Don't worry, I'll keep on making them, but maybe not as frequently.

So I've decided to add a donation button and ask for your kindness. I don't expect much from it, but any little bit would be nice.

I would like to use some of the money to donate to Kevin MacLeod who provides most of the Royalty Free music I use.
In the unlikely event I get enough money, I would like to upgrade my hardware to be able to make even better videos.
Fraps which I use to record the video was relatively cheap at $37.

Thanks a lot to anyone who donates. If you want I can give you a shout-out in a video or a personal thank you on the blog.

PC specs

I've been asked this quite a few times, so here they are:

Core i5 750 @ 2.67GHz
Radeon HD 6950
4 GB RAM
2x 1TB HDDs

Recording videos at 1080p is really heavy on the system, the uncompressed video is 4GB per minute and Minecraft also likes to acces the hard drive a lot. So install Minecraft on a different HDD than where you store the video.
I would really like to upgrade to an SSD which is much faster than a normal hard drive, because I think that would reduce the lag spikes I still sometimes have. Good SSDs are still quite expensive though.

Downloads for maps used in the videos

I sometimes feature a map with a mineshaft ending in a valley surrounded by cliffs and waterfalls, flowing out into a large flat plain. It did quite some modifications to the landscape, especially making the lake, flattening the plain and digging the river. You can download the map here.

In the next video the plain is more visible.

I've also made an underwater base for Nandonalt's Coral Reef mod showcase, which you may need to have to be able to play the map. You can download the map here.

Free Royalty Free music for YouTube videos

Most of my videos have soundtracks and to avoid copyright conflicts I have searched for royalty free music. So far I've used three sites. All these sites have free music which you are allowed to use for personal or commercial purposes as long as you provide credits or a donation.
  1. Incompetech. I've used this one the most. It has a lot of high quality songs very suitable for soundtracks. The tracks are also really well sorted in different genres and moods.
  2. Danosongs. Quite a big list and good quality, though I've found many of them unsuitable as background music.
  3. music4yourvids. A small list but with a few really good tracks. It lacks streaming samples though.
  4. dig.ccmixter.org. Really extensive collection though it's a bit hard to find what you want. But sure a site I'm gonna be paying attention to and try to get good track from.
I always try my best to find music that's fitting to the mods I showcase, hope you appreciate it :)

Welcome

I'm a big fan of Minecraft and the modding community. I really enjoy testing out new mods and seeing the huge creativity and skills of all these modmakers. To make it easy for other people to see the mods I decided to start a Youtube channel dedicated to showcasing these mods.

I uploaded my first video on February 16, 2011 and have published 30 videos up till now.

This is the official blog for my YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/MCmodShowcase

My most popular video at this time is the showcase of KodaichiZero's Fairy Mod

I hope you enjoy the videos and subscribe to my channel.
